Order & Shipping

Is delivery free?

Yes — delivery is free on all orders over R1,500. For orders under R1,500, a delivery fee is calculated at checkout based on your location.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Orders are processed within 1–2 business days of payment confirmation. Delivery then takes 2–5 working days to major city centres and 3–7 working days to outlying or remote areas. You'll receive a tracking link by email as soon as your order is dispatched. Delivery may take a little longer during holidays or peak sale periods.

How do I track my order?

As soon as your order ships, we email you a confirmation with a tracking link so you can follow it to your door. If you can't find the email, check your spam folder, or contact us on 087 353 9785 / enquiries@rugsoriginal.co.za with your order number and we'll resend it.

Do you ship internationally?

At this stage we deliver within South Africa only. We ship nationwide to all nine provinces — from major city centres to outlying areas.

I haven't received my order — what should I do?

First, check the tracking link in your dispatch email. If your order hasn't arrived within the expected window (2–5 working days to city centres, 3–7 working days to remote areas), contact us on 087 353 9785 or enquiries@rugsoriginal.co.za with your order number and we'll track it down for you.

Exchange & Return

What is your return policy?

You may return an item within 7 days of delivery, provided it's unused, in its original condition and original packaging, with proof of purchase. Custom-made and clearance items are final sale and can't be returned unless they're damaged or defective.

Once we receive and inspect the returned rug, refunds are processed within 5–7 business days to your original payment method. Return delivery costs are the customer's responsibility unless the item is damaged or defective.

Can I exchange an item?

Yes — exchanges are welcome within 7 days of delivery, subject to stock availability and the same condition requirements as returns (unused, original packaging, proof of purchase). Contact us on 087 353 9785 or enquiries@rugsoriginal.co.za to arrange it.

What if my rug arrives damaged or defective?

We're sorry if that happens — please contact us within 24 hours of delivery at enquiries@rugsoriginal.co.za or 087 353 9785 with your order number and a few photos. We'll arrange a replacement or refund right away.

How do I choose the right rug size for my space?

As a rule of thumb, your rug should sit under at least the front legs of your sofa and chairs in a living room, and extend about 60 cm beyond all sides of a dining table so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out. What materials are your rugs made of?

Our 1,000+ designs span a wide range of materials — including hard-wearing heat-set polypropylene and polyester, soft wool, silky viscose, and natural fibres like cotton and jute. We source from the world's leading rug-producing countries — Belgium, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Iran, China and Egypt — as well as locally produced ranges. Each product page lists that rug's specific material.

Are your rugs pet- and kid-friendly?

Many are. For homes with pets and children, we recommend our hard-wearing heat-set and flatweave rugs — they're stain-resistant, easy to clean and stand up to high traffic. Our team is happy to point you to the most durable options for a busy household.

Do your rugs shed?

Machine-made rugs (like our heat-set ranges) shed very little. Natural-fibre and high-pile rugs may shed lightly when new — this is normal and settles after a few weeks of regular, gentle vacuuming.

Care & Maintenance

How do I clean and care for my rug?

Vacuum regularly, blot spills immediately (don't rub), and have your rug professionally cleaned from time to time. Different materials need slightly different care — see our full Rug Care guide for step-by-step instructions and a stain-removal chart.

Can I use my rug outdoors?

Only rugs specifically designed for outdoor use should be used outside. Our Outdoor Collection is made from durable, weather-resistant flatweave that handles patios and covered entertaining areas. Indoor rugs aren't suited to outdoor conditions.

Payments & Discounts

What payment methods do you accept?

Online we accept credit and debit cards, EFT, PayJustNow (buy now, pay later) and Zapper.
In-store you can pay by cash, card, Zapper or PayJustNow.

Do you offer discounts or promotions?

Yes — we run seasonal sales throughout the year (like our Winter Sale with up to 50% off) plus ongoing clearance specials. The best way to hear first is to join our newsletter and follow us on social media.

Can I use more than one discount code?

Generally only one discount code can be applied per order. Sale and clearance prices already reflect the discount and can't usually be combined with an additional code.
