Hand-knotted · In our showrooms
Mahi Tabriz rugs
The mahi, or fish, design — built on the herati motif, woven small and in exceptional detail.
Held in our showrooms rather than sold online. Each piece is individual, so it is priced individually — come and stand on it, or ask us to check what is in stock near you.
The mahi design
Mahi means fish. The design belongs to a distinct group built on the herati motif, a pattern found right across the classical weaving tradition, but rendered here at small scale and in exceptional detail.
All-over or medallion
The motif is either repeated into an all-over pattern, or gathered and applied to a medallion format. Two quite different rugs from the same design language.
The fineness is the point
This is where knot count stops being a specification and starts being visible. Worth seeing in person, under real light, before deciding.
Why you will not find these in the online cart
A hand-knotted rug is not a size on a dropdown. Each one is a single piece with its own dimensions, its own colour and its own knot count, and photographs flatten all three. Standing on one settles in about four seconds what a screen cannot settle at all.
Tell us the room and we will tell you what is on the floor at your nearest showroom, or move a piece between branches to have it waiting for you.
